This is about the Dough boy helmet , The other name for this are Brodie, Tin Hat, battle bowler, Tommy and Bataan helmet for most Pinoy. When i start collecting im also confuse on what kind did the Philippine soldier use during the start of WW2, heres some picture for guide. United States Armed Forces when they entered the war in 1917. The government initially purchased some 400,000 helmets from Britain. From January 1918 the U.S. Army began to use helmets manufactured in the U.S. and these helmets were designated M1917 with a leather chin strap (above) and lately with some modifications, which included a totally new brown liner and canvas hook chin strap also use on the early M1 helmets. and designated as M1917A1. and these are the one used by the Phil Scout as we called "Bataan helmet" It was finally superseded by the M1 Helmet in 1942. British Mk 2 with elasticated webbing chin strap For the impressionist the outer shell are almost similar so any may do it , unless you want an accurate one and willing to pay since the Bataan helmet cost more. Hope this help. Belgian helmet will also do just remove the flag on the side.

It wasn't really issued to the Phil. Commonwealth Army. The PA had the coconut guinit sun helmets like this: I agree it's tough to find this helmet in the PHilippines. I saw one on ebay four years ago. The item location was Manila and it had pictures of the Filipino vet wearing it. It looked like the vet died and his family was just selling off his stuff. It was only $80 and I'm kicking myself for not bidding on it. At that time I had just bought the complete refurbished one from Prairie Flower Leather Company so I felt guilty about buying another one. I regretted not having bought it since that had indisputable provenance that it was a Bataan combat helmet. Oh well.

Where to get a Philippine Scout patch? Go to MONOGRAMS at Megamall bldg.B, level 3 (near the parking entrance and the washrooms) It's about a hundred pesos each. Just tell them - it's the red patch with the Kalabaw, do not ask for a PS patch.. this will save you some time asking them about the patch. That is what we used on our uniforms for the documentary filming of "Forgotten Soldiers"

sir Dan 'the man'.. it's good to know that you have your own burdadero. (I just wish we have or own too... ) so, just stick to your guy.
yeah Monograms have a template already of the PS patch. I gave them an original patch to copy.

Dan 'the man' ;D ;D ;D, here are the pictures you requested of your upper PS jacket. Sorry I took so long. I just got this on my ‘to do list’, it just did not materialize until this afternoon. But here you go: Material is cotton twill Has makings on the back neck line: 15 X 33 STOCK NO: 55 – S – 19663 L-7452 Below that has ‘ghost’ lettering that I could not make out. Obviously, from this specimen it was an officers summer jacket. A closer look at the markings. Hope this helps.
