Thanks for another great and helpful review, kalbs. I guess i'll be waiting for the Hexagon model. For the money I would go Hexagon but if you really need a PPSh-41 the ARES is still nice. I guess the thill of having a new PPSh AEG wore off since getting the Hexagon... it's that stupid hop-up design that bugs the heck out of me. I'll try an M150 next I guess since it's an easy change out now.

Actually it's the hop-up and proprietary gearbox that turned me off the Ares. My scratchbuilt PPSH has hop issues already (only getting 300fps with a PDI190 spring) and my main motivation for buying a PPSH even if i have mine is the upgrade potential.

Maybe have the local gunshops procure a Hexagon for you from Hong Kong either Gunners, Guns&guys or UNcompany. They all seem to have them now.

Yup, that's the plan! I've already made arrangements. Just waiting for the actual purchase.

Is the magwell smaller on the hexagon? But isn't hexagon coming up with stickmags already? Is it cheaper to get RS stickmags? I think if you can somehow get your hands on the chinese made RS PPSH stick mags (i think they used the stick mags more frequently than the 71 rnd drums) they would be real cheap....

No word on the stick mags from Hexagon. The mag I got was from BOBAH who was working with Hexagon on this issue and apparenly without success yet. Yes, the Hexagon mag well is smaller. The ARES hop-up sits to the front of the magwell so possibe use of an MP5 is more promising that a rear mount. The MP7 mags for the hexagon have some compatability issues, I've checked.
I have no idea where to get RS magazines but it's a good idea if available.

Any updates, kalbs? Were you able o get the fps up to 380? I'm now seriously considering getting the ares after all the headaches i encountered with ACM M14 gearboxes....

I haven't touched in since Jim, been woking on my night vision AK set-up. It would be easier for me to put in a heavier spring now that I changed the fixed piston out.

I recently got the Ares version and I promptly jammed it with the bbs I use in my M4 and S-552. I had the silicon sleeve replaced and only use the smaller bbs now. Another problem I encountered was that the selector switch for single and full auto was malfunctioning. Opoy's guy Willie found out that it was missing a part and they are fixing it now by fabricating the said part, under warranty of course.

Good to know medic and welcome to the board by the way. I haven't field tested mine yet, waiting for cooler weather.
