Worse war Movies?.... Pearl Harbor and Battle of the Bulge. So historically incorrect. One redeeming factor of "Pearl Harbor" was Kate Beckinsale! I had the chance to work with her once... Definitely HOT!

Have you guys seen the National Geographic's Apocalypse: the 2nd World War docu series? OMG it's the best ww2 docu i've ever seen. It's well written and well presented. It made use of declassified colorized footage. Some actual combat! It's presented in an in-line chronological way instead of by theater of operations. It covers the whole world war with footage from almost all armies.

WW2 fiction movies I like: Guns of Navarone Where Eagles Dare Saving Private Ryan my all tme favorite is Band of Brothers series. The best there is and I can't wait for "The Pacific" by the same makers. Guns of Navarone? The movie introduced me to the term "gangrene." My most memorable movie though is "To Hell and Back." The first movie where my dad took me. A recent copy got me in good graces with my dad too.

It's the only true autobiograhy movie I know of. Last time I was in Arlington (many moons ago) I stopped by his grave marker. Very underwhelming for the highest decorated soldier in US history. A little white cross sitting by the road side. Welcome D7K to WW2AAA! Our Audie Murphy of FAS

Just recently watched "Between Heaven and Hell" which starrs Robert Wagner (Dr. Evil's No. 2). Filmed around 1956. Was nominated for an Oscar.
Its a close to war's end movie set in the Pacific. Watched it mostly to check out the uniforms. Plot was a so so not so bad and flashbacks took too long and unnecessary to develop the personality of the main character. Here you will see action scenes with your favorites..M1 Garands and BARs.

I've always liked the European films better than the 'shoot em ups' of Hollywood. 'Stalingrad' comes to mind. Although 'To Hell and Back' ranks high on my likes as well.

Additions to the movies Ive seen recently Battleground - A squad of the 101st Airborne Division copes with being trapped in Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge. The Young Lions - Nazis!! Stars Marlon Brando and some others. Good story of 3 soldiers. Patton - The Genral guy with the tanks and stuff McArthur - we know this guy well enough From Hell to Eternity - USMC born in Japanese environment in the US. Becomes instrumental in the surrender of over 800 Japs in the Battle of Saipan To Hell and Back - The true WWII story of Audie Murphy, the most decorated soldier in U.S. history. Based on the autobiography of Audie Murphy who stars as himself in the film. Beach Red - Battle of Guadalcanal i think. If you like USMC stories. Lots of explosions. Sands of Iwo Jima - Battle for Iwo Jima. Stars John Wayne Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo - US launches 1st air strike on Tokyo featuring Doolittle and his bomber squadron Air Force - The crew of an Air Force bomber arrives in Pearl Harbor in the aftermath of the Japanese attack and is sent on to Manila to help with the defense of the Philippines. Merrill's Marauders - Brigadier General Frank D. Merrill leads the 3,000 soldiers of the 5307th Composite Unit (Provisional), aka "Merrill's Marauders", behind Japanese lines across Burma. This is the impression Im shooting for heh The Bridge - In 1945, Germany is being overrun, and nobody is left to fight but teenagers from the Hitler Youth Corps. Guns of Navarone - A British team is sent to cross occupied Greek territory and destroy the German gun emplacement that commands a key sea channel. Darby's Rangers - About the 1st Ranger Battalion and its begginings.
