Just want to share: We ordered from Hiki for our WW2 gear, I instructed DON't PUT ITEMS IN BOX to avoid Customs inspection. Hiki confirmed my very simple instruction. But simple instruction, he don' undersand. I went to Customs yesterday because EMS said it's for Customs inspection. I found out, it's still placed in a BOX! Now, the inspector charged me high tax because she thinks Y-strap and 2 Belts are around $100 plus. She's right with that, but she didn't believe me it's only $20...I was trying to get it at a lower tax. I didn't get my items because I don't have the money to pay the tax. I'm so disappointed with Hiki. I emailed Hiki about this matter, still waiting for his reply.

Yikes! that sucks. Good news is their straps are the best on the market. All their stuff I've received comes in a box. How much is the tax BTW?
I doubt they reply bro and technically they are abiding by the laws.
I'm waiting for my HIKI and Spearhead order. HIKI is much better that Spearhead in communications and delivery time but Spearhead makes better and more authentic uniforms. I had to return 3 smocks to Spearhead and I'm still waiting two weeks now for the replacements from China.

I'm paying P1,500 tax for $20 item price. I only have P900.00 yesterday. What if I declared a higher price, how much do you think they'll tax me? Sucks! But my previous orders were delivered door to door, even from Spearhead.
Hiki agreed that he will send it in Plastic package and not in a box. Here, any boxed items will surely end up in Customs. Maybe Jimmi was lucky enough to have some of his items delivered door to door. Hiki's not replying from my emails. I'm a dissatisfied customer here.
Labrador, expect the same problem. Better declare a very low but justifiable price for your orders, and ready for the tax. I wonder how that Old Hag determine the tax amount?

If I only have the money yesterday, tax is not the issue. My problem really is the instruction given was not done by the seller. It's really inconvenient to go to Customs, asking you questions as if you're a criminal hiding something.
Crap! I hope the A-Frame and SS side cap will arrive to my doorstep.
Donn, Labrador, I'm sorry if your items will also be taxed.

hiki is based in hk but the items come from shanghai. either he failed to tell his employees your instructions or they forgot to follow. unfortunately, it doesnt matter whether the items came in a bag oe a box. i'vd had boxes delivered 2 my door and bags taxed and vice versa. it doesnt matter to customs. it's all the luck of the draw. next time i think i should print an official looking invoice. while it's true hiki failed to follow your instructions, i dont think its his fault you were taxed. it's really customs fault. we should try to avoid ems because most of the sharks are there.

Before this, I asked Hiki if he has other courier service other than EMS...he didn't replied.
He only replies like,"Thanks for your purchase." or "Payment received, thanks."

It really dosent matter if its in box or not,, its been 15 years or more im dealing with EMS, i tel you its all hell, all EMS should be delivered on our door step, but they must have a 'cota' so if your unlucky your box will land on them , they will even say that nobody receive your notice when foward on your address that's why it was forward to them, My tunic from Hiki came on an envelope with a $25 value and yet still charge 1,900 for tax but i paid 900 w/ out receipt , still lucky my friend got some swatches or several pieces of cloth as sample and paid 600 for it, Hiki forgot to include a shoulder eagle with my tunic i wrote and said he will mail it hope it comes.

My advise is learn our custom and gun and military uniform laws. ( gun law since some of our order will be classified as components etc). Get a copy and hoping you can argue your case in the future more amicable . Not being funny some employee don't know the law. You've got a better case than listening to them blindly.
Saving a couple of pesos is worth I think. Don't rely on other peoples experience or luck in custom ( no offence ) If you're with the law there will be no problem I hope ( assuming the custom people know their job )
We've got the same problem here when they become strict with replica, airsoft , even the cops don't know the law. Seller, they can't lie on their declarations unless you' ve developed a relationship with them like my friend here with airsoft global shop .There is this seller in eBay that post everything in padded envelope and declared everything low with out me telling.

indiosbravos - Actually, if we did follow the law to the letter, no airsoft items will be allowed into the country and taxes would really be high. The sad part is that the postal workers themselves will offer you ways to lower the tax (no receipt). Usually, if i can afford the written tax, i pay the full amount and ask for a receipt.

Hiki apologized to what happened. He admitted that he placed my items in a box because he thought the Ystrap and belt might get damaged during transit. But he assured me that the other orders were placed in a plastic packaging.
Apology accepted.
Again, I hope my items will arrive to my doorstep.

After a wrong sent item from Hiki, he sent me a replacement and did not ask me to return the first item. He even gave me bonus items, 2 Feldgendarmerie cuff titles (black and brown).
That's what I call Customer Service. Bravo.

I wonder what are the laws regarding which items are and are not taxable.
As far as I know, items that are in commercial quantities (a dozen or so) get taxed. Also electronics. But a couple of belts and straps?!
Next time have it shipped to my address and then i can send it via regular parcel or HK Speedpost. I can repack and declare it as used/gift. Maybe it can go under the radar. Just pay me the shipping.
