I wonder what are the laws regarding which items are and are not taxable. As far as I know, items that are in commercial quantities (a dozen or so) get taxed. Also electronics. But a couple of belts and straps?! Next time have it shipped to my address and then i can send it via regular parcel or HK Speedpost. I can repack and declare it as used/gift. Maybe it can go under the radar. Just pay me the shipping. Thats a good idea, i just tried doing that , i got a set of wool officer uniform with breeches and an officer cap instruct to ship to a friend in Hong Kong that will be going home for the season, i only paid $8 for the shipping. ;D

Just to be sure, everything imported is subject to customs and tariffs. Even used clothing, if the customs people would be so strict. Then there is import tax, VAT, and other small and receivable fees. All will be listed down on the receipt that is issued to the importer at customs.
The only hope we have is for the exporter to declare a smaller purchase value, and we walk into Customs with the most pitiful expression. No heads held high and no loud voices, or the Customs people will get seriously pissed and charge the load higher.
So be humble, declare cheap, and be very meek. When you leave the area, then grin and jump with joy.
