Here's a short description of the film: 1937, at the height of the Second Sino-Japanese War. The Imperial Japanese Army has just captured the then-capital of the Republic of China, Nanjing. What followed was known as the Nanking Massacre, or the Rape of Nanking, a period of several weeks wherein tens of thousands of Chinese soldiers and civilians were killed. The film tells the story of several figures, both historical and fictional, including a Chinese soldier, a schoolteacher, a Japanese soldier, a foreign missionary, and John Rabe, a Nazi businessman who would ultimately save thousands of Chinese civilians. Here's what I can say: After watching this film...I felt like watching Come and See in Chinese version. I'm impressed...Like Schindler's List, Assembly and Letters from Iwojima compressed in one film. Downside: It made me think twice to do an IJA impression, sad but true... Lighter side: I'll still do an IJA impression! ;D Attachments:

If i had ten thumbs to hold up, i would. Another classic anti war film. Watch this, come and see, the bridge and grave for fireflies and you'll find there really isn't very much glory in war.

The Nanjing massacre was alleged to have killed off hundreds of thousands of chinese, with women (grandma-old and granddaughter-young) raped and mutilated. It was one of the most horrendous massacres ever perpetrated. Not to mention people killed (beheaded) for sport, and live "prisoners" stood up in stakes and bayonetted for practice.
