Check out the intense debating over at FAS regarding the definition of Blind Firing. www.filairsoft.com/forum/showthread.php?t=101764I'm on one side, debating very heatedly...hehe. Tell us what you think and what your take on blind firing is with respect to WW2 airsoft.

Well, for me, blind firing is shooting without being able to see where you're shooting at (and which should be curtailed for safety reasons). But the pic in the first post shows that the guy was aiming (though not in a correct way) at a target. I'm guessing he would be able to see where his BBs will go, so he was not blind firing IMO.
So, for me, shoot in whatever goofy way you can think of, just as long as you can see where your plastic projectiles are going.

LOL, it just dawned on me, Doc, that you should be the one to determine the meaning of "blind" in "blind firing", you being an ophthalmologist and all

Haha. Maybe we should have an all hip firing game to show the modern guys how it was really done back in the day.

Hard to tell based on the picture example posted. Since he seems exposed and not tight against an object I say "not"

That all semi auto game we had at alpadi was a huge revelation for me. Tons more fun having to line up your sights against a target. But yes, it looks from the picture the guy is tracing. My question is, what about those moments when you're absolutely sure the target is in front of you (bush, dark, defilade) and you feel you need to fire a burst into the object to hit your target? I guess that counts as blind firing?

maybe we can apply it to our group..we can allow blind firing as we all know we are honest enough to admit the hit. its also a tactic in combat... all combats. spoke with a local phil marine and cafgu... 90% of the fire fights is blind firing..to whom it may concern as what they call it.

I'm glad i have this site just in case i offend someone over at FAS and get banned for my persistent arguing. Hehe. It's just so frustrating that some are just being so bull headed about it. I can honestly say that if someone could prove me wrong then i will gladly concede.
But about blind firing in WW2 airsoft, if we follow the real definition of blind firing, which SHOULD be firing without line of sight to target, i say we shouldn't do it. It is still unsafe. I know it's done in real life, but in real life the goal is to kill kill kill. When we play, we shoot to hit, not to hurt, and there is a risk of accidentally hurting someone when you fire indiscriminately.
But if we're taking about Tracing, then by all means let's hip fire! It's not that big an issue for me, as tracing is done in the real world as well.

Tried putting in my two cents, too... some of those posters are just plain... well, intellectually challenged.

Well, ultimately, I believe that the issue still hangs on player honesty. I feel it wouldn't really be such a big bugging matter if players behaved properly and more civilized (as opposed to worshipping at the temple of zombie-ism). Get what I mean?

yeah. at the same time, I don't like it when people insist that other players have to shoot a certain way (eye level, sighting down the iron sights, etc.). What the frack!!!! So long as you can hit your target, whether snapshooting, walking the shots, firing over your heads, or heck even with the gun firing towards your rear... a hit is a hit! so long as you know where your BBs are going to land, that should be enough. I don't get how OC some people can be.

Exactly! I was shocked when one of them said that line of sight wasn't necessarily included in the definition of Blind firing. ?
