Sound off troops with books you recommend and why I'll Start: Everything from helmets to boondockers is covered, including contractual information that provides quantities ordered as well as the rarity of various items. The USMC camouflage uniform is thoroughly detailed with information on the camouflage pattern creator, manufacturer of the uniforms and variants, and never before seen photographs of the camouflage parachutist jump smock. The chapter on knives provides the latest information on Marine Corps knives, including the rare first Raider knife and updated production numbers on Marine Corps K-bars and M4 bayonets. Hardbound, 336 pages, over 560+ color photographs, 120+ black and white photographs, 90+ drawings, schematics, blueprints and over 2,000 USMC specific rifle and submachine gun serial numbers. Out of print now but still some copies can be found. Expensive but the best available on the WW2 US Marine Excellent book with photgraphs covering about every US GI gear and uniform covered in the ETO with over 250 pages full of color photos of the actual real gear. Read more about this book here: www.olive-drab.com/od_gi_eto_collectors_guide.phpI see an updated version is out with even more stuff added

Historie & Collections publications produce great reference books. I have several in my mini-library. But right now, they are all boxed up in the garage. The books that kalbs listed above are on my list to buy. They are quite pricey though. These books are excellent both for photo and information but the dangerous part is, they also become your checklist of things you want to buy. I've fallen in that trap way too many times.

Time Magazine has a lot of photos of the era. They are available at specialty bookstores like fully bookes and the like

Nice Joshua. I didn't know you were such a 101AB fan. Sounds like you should be collecting Airborne stuff

Another book I picked up today, great picture reference of the German WW2 Transitional, M35, M40 and M42 helmets. No paratrooper references other than text but the pictures are awsome. 323 glossy color photo pages of all models of originals.
