Not WW2, but I got these at a thrift shop 2 days ago where they were being sold for cheap and found them interesting, so I thought I would share... The same thrift shop also had some USMC and Navy shirts.
First is a private purchase "Class A" officer's coat. Former owner went through Ranger school and the SF Q course and his current/ last unit is/ was US Pacific Command (patches on left sleeve). Right sleeve (combat side) means he served in SF as a former wartime unit. Stay-brite buttons. There are several pinholes above the left pocket, as well as on the pocket flap where it looks as if pin-on insignia was removed. Same on the epaulets.
Last is a ERDL jungle jacket with the slanted upper pockets, green dominant (lowland)... It is dated 1968. USAF branch tape doesn't look like a issue item. It has stitch holes on both sleeves where the USAF rank insignia were removed.
Green dominant ERDL with slanted pockets was my old time favorite when i used to collect 'nam stuff. This was at a thrift shop here? or in the US?
Yes, I prefer the green dominant as well over the brown . The thrift shop was here, along a side street from P. Tuason, close to Ali Mall in Cubao. The badged Class A and ERDL were hanging outside the shop, so I saw them from the car. I also got some USMC and Navy stuff. The ERDL was Php 300.00 for just the jungle jacket. No trousers.
Darktide, thrift shops or ukay ukay as we call it, is very addictive especially when you're lucky enough to find gear/rare stuffs. Me and Dan used to go on a road trip to find stuffs in thrift shops, and we're not rehabilitated yet.
ERDL green dominant is also my favorite actually being an officer its one of my unofficial uniform during my CAT days, i still have it with the hat too, but it can only fit my son, need to find a pair so i can reenact my previous uniform ....

louiejo1: I have designed and built a pretty faithful reproduction of the WW2 Japanese Type 89 Knee mortar for airsoft use. I takes standard 40mm gas grenades and has an effective range when held at a 45 degree angle of 120-130 ft.
