Besides wearing medals on jump jackets? What is wrong is they are wearing medals they never earned like the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple heart, CIB, and the guy at the bottom has the Medal of honor.

Wearing medals is the same with wearing rank.....some Reenactors seems to disagree...Me personally, I'm not comfortable in wearing rank unless it is vital to what I'm portraying. If I'm gonna do Rodolfo Davila( which I will in the future ) I'll wear his rank as a tribute and homage to show his achievement , a Filipino achievement.

Didn't a guy get jiled recently for showing up at reunions as a decorated marine? Truly an insult to those who deserve it....suddenly i'm iffy about wearing my general assault badge and EK 2 class. What about representing defunct armies? seems every other landser had at least one of these badges on their uniform.

I think dressing as a WW2 Lanser wearing a medal from a defunk army is okay because the impression is obviously an imposibility at our age and if done to create the impression then okay. The case pictures posted above is the wearing of awards that are still in use. Rank doesn't bother me too much. What makes it worse is the form in which they are wearing them, they were never worn on the jump suit or would they be worn like a Russian Czar. The second picture the guys is wearing the Medal of Honor while the first has the silver star. The ICB wearing is bad enough but never any honor medals.
A man was just recently arrested in the US for wearing medals and posing as a decorated Marine. This is a US federal crime under the Stolen Valor Act. He could be fined $250,000 and a year in jail all for claiming he earned the Purple Heart.

The classic allgemeine SS would be an issue if worn somewhere in europe or someplace with a large jewish population. People would definitely find issue with it if shown on a public web page. On the other hand, its the classic bad guy uniform...far more than the waffen SS or heer which for some would increase the fun factor. There's a guy on another forum who looks exactly like himmler and had the reichsfuhrer SS uniform made. Needless to say, he doesn't come dressed in it in any public forum but he DID have pictures taken.
My view on the wearing of SS uniforms, Waffen or otherwise is that as long as the wearer is aware of the dark history of what he's wearing and is sensitive to the issues involved in what it represents then it shouldn't be too much of a problem.
Personally i'd love to wear it as a halloween outfit.

here is a link about the US ribbons- www.gruntsmilitary.com/armyribs.phpSo i can see that the guy(R) at the bottom also has a Philippine Defense Ribbon ... huh? And both of them have this yellow ribbon that looks like the Vietnam Service Ribbon... but then again it's a bit blurred that it could be the American Defense Ribbon. They don't know what they are doing... yep, i agree.. they should be shot! These are not reenactors, they are clowns! ....The circus must be in town.

The SS and other German forces were build on the backs of slave labor. All gear and uniforms were fabricated in concentration camps. Hollywood has made the Black Uniform a symbol of evil. As distint from the waffen SS, the Allgemeine SS(translation "General SS") were body guards for Hitler. Back on topic, yes he will be fine wearing your impression with medals and we should always remember what it means.

As everyone said, Wearing medals and rank is and will be okey depending on the context or situation you're on. If that will be vital to the your impressions to educate people and to raise awareness or for the look of your group's scenario then by all means go for it and don't worry about other people ( but as was discussed, be aware of the law and on what and you can't do). I know in the future I might be guilty of exactly what I'm preaching here.
Have fun and be ready to exchange bb's....
