Haha! I would've done a lot of things differently if i had to build this again...but i won't be doing that for a loong while. Cataract surgery is much easier and less time consuming.

I was able to find a local spring fabricator! They will be delivering by next week. Hopefully, with the new feed springs the 42 will run without misfeeds.

I was able to find a local spring fabricator! Wow! how are they, can they make AEG spec springs? From the distributors upgrade springs are $2.16 and because it has one of the highest turn over they sell it for x3 to x7 the cost. I think its a bit too high for something that shouldn't count as "weapon" parts when importing.

I'm sure they can do it. But as to exact fps output, i wouldn't know how they can actually measure and test....I'll ask them about it when i get the feed tube.

After some judicious use of the dremel and a set of tiny files, i was able to free the pivot point of the bipod! Can't wait to deploy this in a game....

Finally used the 42 in a game. The MG42 performed great. It shot like a laser, and i was using the bb flight as tracers more than the sights (like the real thing i'm guessing). It had amazing range because of the 650mm inner barrel. There were a few misfeeds, but were remedied quickly by activating the manual switch of the drum mag. But the sound activation worked well enough for the most part. I didn't get any kills with it when i was manning it but it sure was effective at keeping heads down. It was able to keep the enemy forces at bay long enough for almost all my teammates to make it out of the bunker before i got killed. The Allies still won the game with their daring though. Unfortunately, i don't have pics of the great game itself but here is a parting shot of the 42. Some teething issues though: 1) I'll need longer screws to secure the pistol grip better 2) still some misfeeds 3) Some of the superglued PVC parts fell off: Must secure with epoxy Any feed back from the guys that manned it during the game?

It's a heavy gun! I had the fortune of taking over for Jim after he got hit in one scenario. What a great weapon for suppressive fire!

@docjim: It was great! Although I think the rate of fire should be increased significantly. The whole point of an MG support weapon was to keep heads down and to a certain extent, lower morale. It was hella fun to use, but I was having a hard time suppressing. In fact, a very daring guy got me while we were both firing at each other.
But then again, it may have been an exceptional case wherein I wasn't too well versed in using it and the other guy being very bold.
A wonderful beauty nevertheless. Galing, Jim!

I'll be lowering the spring to a PDI 190 and maybe change the motor to a JG red motor to increase the ROF. The range won't suffer even if i lower the spring rating because of the looong barrel installed. Did you guys experience misfeeds?
