Hi Guys,
My wife said i had a grin plastered on my face when i got home so i figured i'd do an after action report while the day was still fresh in my head.
Today's game was attended by myself, jnmodeller, nelson, bobby (mournblade), doc Jim, Dondi, Bitan Pesayco and Zuma.
As usual, upon arrival around 945 people were still just getting suited up. There was a nice cool breeze and mask and glasses fogging were a not much of a problem during the games. BoyP, our usual host at the gamesite gave us the traditional spiel about making km18 a zombie free site and after that we went directly into the 2 warm up games. The first game was very interesting.
Boy P took the latecomer to the site (zuma) and proclaimed him the standalone player. He then divided us into teams of two and distributed us around the game site. Objective was to shoot zuma in a free for all to get him adopted in our two man team, and then to engage all other teams at the site. Jojo and I were partnered together and upon game start immediately set off to look for Zuma. I saw his leg lying in some cogon (can't mistake that divisoria splittermuster pant leg) and fired a short burst at him and jojo did the same. (sorry man, i know that was close). We then took Zuma into our team and settled sown in the long grass to try and decide what to do. BIG MISTAKE. while we were jabbering away, a team behind us sprayed pellets into our little clump and killed Jojo and I outright. that was the end of game 1 for us. I really liked the scenario. Just wished we had moved off and killed at least one team before getting killed ourselves.
The interesting element in the next game was in the form of some newbie guests. They were each marked with a yellow band on their masks to mark them as VIP's IT was our job to escort them into the game site, keep them from getting hit and eventually insert them via a gap in the sandbags into the enemy's camp. We decided to split forces and have our team mates marine force recon and some of our more experienced players engage the enemy camp frontally then split the VIP's into teams of two and circle the camp while the enemy was supressed. Using a Cogon area as a staging point while the others engaged the enemy defenders we brought our group of VIP's to a well protected hut within striking distance. Dondi then joined the harassing team with supressing fire and i suggested that Bobby take two of the VIP's and try to circle round and get as close to the camp as possible. Seeing one of the enemy stand in the distance i stood as well and let loose a long burst in his direction ...and missed. I stood again to check the enemy's location and immediately got killed. (So much for protecting the VIP's) So we had MFR and Jim keeping the enemy's heads down, a group of newby VIP's with no escort thanks to my carelessness and bob circling round to try to flank the camp. The enemy very skillfully whittled our team down one by one. the unprotected VIP's tried to assault as well from the left of the camp but were cut down. But where was Bobby and his two VIP's? They had succesfully through stealth and some really low crawling, approached within easy striking distance behind the enemy's flank. Alas it was not to be. while the enemy began to assault the positions of our remaining guys, they made a run for it but were cut down as well.
For the third game, we switched sides and were now the camp defenders. Nelson took the snipers post in the tree above the camp and ably pointed out attackers positions while steadily returning fire. I took a position slightly in front of the camp as i found the sandbag walls tended to be an aiming point for the enemy. Bitan, Tad, Bobby, Dondi and Jim defended from inside the camp. The enemy was able to succesfully close with us in a matter of minutes. I again spotted an enemy in a position about 15 yards ahead of me behinf some abandoned cable spools and a tree. after a prolonged exchange of fire I was again cut down...I thought to myself...don't make us lose this time. Didn't want the others to think of us WW2 guys to be outlandishly dressed bullet magnets. I ran back, used my re spawn and took a position behind the camp wall with my mates. Under whithering fire from the enemy we tried our best to keep the enemy from bringing the VIP's close MFR succesfully defended our flank and we managed to keep the enemy at bay. Jojo's MP44 ran out of power and jim the fallschirmjager handed his PO8. At this point, under great danger and risk to himself, Bitan pulled out his Camera and we had a photo shoot.HAHAHAHAHAHAH talk about cool under fire. there we were BB ricochets bouncing all over and we tried to look impressive with our best war poses. Bitan! I've got to see theose pics and post them here! In the end, after whittling our forces down, the enemy was unsuccesful and WW2 guys finally had a victory for the day.
For the fourth game, we had to assault a team defending a fort like structure (the host called it a tourist bus - sicko) holding several water balloons hostage. The enemy would eliminate one balloon every two minutes. If we saved one balloon, we'd win. We divided our force into 3. The MFR assault team would approacjh from one direction, The WW2 team or some elements of it would flank and come round behind while the first team assaulted and we'd try our luck from the other side. Our two specialist snipers would keep up harassing fire... Jim led our group round the flank using the approach road and for the first five minutes, everything went smoothly. Then I TRIPPED. My foot caught on something and i lierally flew forwards. I was holding my mp44 and thought about what damage i would cause the gun if it was under me and it broke my fall. And so I flung the gun ahead of me and BROKE MY FALL WITH MY FACE AND MY KNEE. ouch. everything went black. I was able to recover my gun as a burst of fire sprayed across the bush i was behind and peoppered me with ricochets (not kills at this site thank goodness) Bob was quickly caught by another burst from the same direction and Jim and the enemy exchanged fire and got each other killed. the enemy must have thought they killed the entire flanking team because as i crept forward there no longer seemed to be anyone guarding that direction. The rain began to pour down in buskets and then i saw him. Around thirty feet ahead of me one of the enemy making his way back to camp. I raised my gun and fired into the direction i imagined he'd be headed. HIT! HIT! Finally! a clean kill for the day. As the rain intensified, I bounded over the remaining bushes until i was in sight of the objective. In the rain i couldn't make anything out and as i tiried to get closer i was hit by a burst from my unguarded left side. that was that. the end of the last game of the day.
Thanks guys! what a fun day that was. My knee's black and blue and throbbing but I still have a smile plastered on my face.
