Here's one photo with a PS combat engineer carrying it -- the guy on the left. Here's another one, the guy on the left is carrying it. The guy on the right is using the M4A1 kidney shaped bag:

I was at MAS the other day, and I asked Opoy if he was ever able to sell his Marushin M1 Garand collector's edition. I remember the original selling price was P40K. He looked a little sad when he said it's still in his storage room. Then he said I could have it for, get this: P25,000.00. He looked sadder when he said he's losing a lot of money on it. He said it's mine, including the wooden display case, for the price of an M1Carbine. Speaking slowly, I asked if I can do a lay-away plan on it... deposit P5K now, then another P5K when I have extra cash, till I get to pay the whole amount. Sure, he said, and he wanted me to take the gun home! I declined for now, I don't know how to explain it to the wife, heh heh. I'll bring it home when I pay the whole amount.

This just delivered by Ner this morning. The 1911 holster is from Mon, shown previously. By cesarphotos at 2011-06-27 I can now wear it to the Fil-Am Friendship Day dinner on July 4. Ner will deliver my Pershing Cap this Friday.

Just bought a WW2 German canteen/ water bottle for the equivalent of Php 250.00... It's just the canteen and cap though, no cover. Dated on neck VDNS42, so it's from 1942. KAR 98 bayonets cost around Php 2,500.00. A saw a original splinter pattern zeltbahn being used as a groundsheet to display items. I wanted to make an offer for it.

nice find darktide. Still in France? Funny how repros are sometimes almost as expensive as the originals.

nice find darktide. Still in France? Funny how repros are sometimes almost as expensive as the originals. No, am in Geneva. There is a flea market here every Wednesday and Saturday (better Saturday, more sellers). It's Saturday here now, so I got the gear this morning. Got a lot of old Swiss gear as well. There is also some old beat-up US gear but they sell for more expensive than the German gear. They also have the current Swiss camo uniforms which are almost impossible to purchase. The Swiss daggers look very similar to the Hitler Youth type. I did get some gear in France last week but it was French stuff. I'll be back in France (Paris area) on Monday and I'll be buying more French gear (and German, if I can get it at a good price). I'll also be going to Spain, Italy and some other European countries, so I'll be getting militaria items from those countries as well.

The old Swiss gas mask cans/ tins look very similar to the German WW2 ones... I don't know if they are exactly alike as I didn't see a German one to place it side-by-side with to compare. There are a lot of the Swiss one though, and they are cheap. The mess tins look the same as well.

The German WW2 canteen/ water bottle I got at the Geneva flea market... No cover or cup, but I saw some being sold yesterday, so I'll get a cover and cup and complete this. The canteen itself is in practically mint condition, only one very small dent. Good for the equivalent of Php 250.00. Dated at the neck... 42', VDNS is the manufacturer. Cap... Retaining strap was cut, but the covers I saw for sale yesterday still had the retaining straps, so it's easy enough to replace. It seems (at least here in Europe) that original militaria items are much cheaper than the reproductions being sold by several companies. Apparently, WW2 German gear isn't rare or expensive, from what I've seen so far. This weekend I'll be going to the world's largest flea market, Les Puces de Saint-Ouen, and Le Passage is a street devoted to mostly military items so I'm pretty sure there will be a lot of German gear there.
