Kamerads, It's sure fun doing impressions or dressing up like German soldiers, can anyone share some german words or sentences that we can use for a military impression...not the tourist type. ;D I'm trying to learn the language but it's really hard when you don't practice it with somebody. Yes - Ja (Ya) No - Nein (Nayn) Attention - Achtung (Akhtung) Thanks - Danke (Dangker) and so on... Please post your share and how to pronounce it.  |

Funny you should say that... we were speaking made up German and repeating german lines from movies, songs and TV shows during our shoot.

Get yourselves a children's first guide to speaking deutsch with cartoons, illustrations and if possible a cd. I learned my basic conversational german that way. I got by in munich and berlin for a week and a half so it can't have been that bad. There's a guide to military german...orders etc somewhere on the web, so we no longer have to make do with: achtung, los!, kamerad, nicht schiessen etc. I'll post it when i find it.

This is an interesting idea. We can use this for airsoft games. We could sprecken Deutsch when relaying maneuver commands etc.
Here are some useful commands from herr labrador's link, other websites, babel fish and of course..Call of Duty:
1) Feuerschutz!= covering fire!
2) Gib mir Feuerschutz!= You cover me!
3) Angriff Rechte/ Linke Flanke = Attack Right/Left Flank
4) Auf! Auf! Auf! = Out! Out! Out!
5) Los, Los, Los!= Go Go Go!
6) Steh auf = get up (to several people)
7) Hinlegen = lay down
8) Zurck!= Retreat!
9) Abdeckung! = Take cover!
10) Gehen sie umher! = go around (can add direction)
11) enemy ahead - feind von vorn
12) come over here and help me - ich brauche hier verstärkung / kommt ran und helft mir / zu mir
13) taking fire left flank / taking fire right flank - einfall von links / einfall von rechts
14) hold this position - stellung halten / haltet diese stellung
15) sniper - scharfschütze
16) enemy behind us - sie sind hinter uns
17) we got him, move up / enemy position knocked out - den hat's erwischt, los weiter / wir haben ihn, weiter gehts / feindstellung aufgehoben
18) He needs help, he got hit! - Er brauch hilfe, er wurde getroffen
