Just got myself a copy of Winter in Wartime (Oorlogswinter) from St Francis. Its a film set in the "hunger winter" in Holland 1945. A coming of age story where a young boy is beset with moral choices between family and resistance to the occupiers when he discovers a wounded English pilot who needs help to escape to Zwolle and on to the allies. A very good film that managed 4 out of 5 in Rotten Tomatoes. Excellent cinematography and cast with just the right amount of high jinks, stunts and espionage. A little bit over the top when it comes to the RAF pilot but still quite good. It also manages to show that while the nazi occupation was evil, German soldiers are just like other soldiers, eager to lend a hand to civilians when needed. (rare in a dutch movie). the officers of course are nothing short of evil. Great uniforms! especially the proper schutzpolizei uniforms with brown turn back cuffs and lots of buttons. Really worth seeing! Get it while its available.

I posted a preview of this last year. It's out! Looks like I'll be paying you a visit soon, Herr Albert.
