try wetting it first then roll it before installing through the net

Yup, just cut it into strips, then insert it into the net. There isn't a specific pattern or amount. No need to tie em down too. If the net is tight, that will be enough to hold the scrim in place.

yup, just cut into strips, break them up a bit, then weave through the holes in the helmet netting. Here's what I did with mine:

@otacon wups, didn't see the post sorry bout that *used to quick reply... vandal what malegant did was correct and accurate for the impression the difference between airborne and british standard infantry is just the burlap strip distance throughout the helmet scrim. for airborne should be tight (more material used) for the british infantry the distance between burlap strips are longer by a couple of inches (less material used)

In addition, it would be more appropriate if you only used dark green and light green for ABN. Tommies used the brown and light brown. Although there is no hard and fast rule here, most of the photos from my "American Paratrooper Helmets" don't show ABN helmets with brownish strips. But again, it doesn't mean to say it didn't happen.
I realized this after I took the photo shown above. I removed the dark brown strips immediately, but I kept the lighter brown ones just to add texture and a sense of weathering.
