Just over a year ago a few good souls had an idea to band together some friends and to make new friends with a common interest of combining WW2 history and Airsoft into one Asian community. I honestly didn’t realize there were so many that shared the same interest but I’m happy to report we have now 119 registered members since we started the board September 13, 2009.
In the last year some good stuff has come out in the Airsoft world for WW2 players and reenactors. We now have a whole variety of WW2 Airsoft guns available such as the PPSh-41, MP44, M1A1, 1928A2 BAR, 1919A4, Kar98k, MP40 and a variety of GBB hand guns like P-38’s, Colt 45’s and P-08’s just to name a few. This next year will be even better, my insiders report the MG-42 and a China made PPSh-41 is just around the corner with a release by the end of 2010.
Collecting and creating impressions has also gotten a bit easier too. eBay has a bunch of vendors making and selling replica uniforms and field gear of all WW2 combatants at affordable prices and the market for real artifacts has also grown quite a bit since the walls came tumbling down in the East.
I do ask that we all remember that when we put on a uniform for games or reenacting that be respectful of the sacrifices of our forefathers and the horror of war witnessed by those who wore the uniform during WW2.
Those who are just staring I wish you a warm welcome and a hearty thanks to all the board veterans for your contributions. Happy anniversary!
