We love our wives/ significant others and we love our hobby. We know our wives love us (or she wouldn't put up with us), but what does she think of our WW2 airsoft hobby? My wife mainly lets me "play". She knows me well enough to acknowledge that this is an important outlet for me. She even went to an airsoft game with me and kicked @s$! She doesn't, however, approve of how much i spend on this hobby. I mean, airsoft on its own is already expensive, but WW2 airsoft...it's on a whole other level. I have a feeling she'll be secretly pleased if i dropped this hobby altogether. But for now, i'd say she tolerates it well enough. I've been trying to get her to join us as a Russian sniper. I've had her watch Enemy at the Gates several times as well as a old Russian movie "The Dawns here are Quiet" featuring a whole platoon of female artillery soldiers. So far i've only gotten her to wear the hat...(which she frequently does)

Nice to hear, I guess it just depends how long they will "tolerate" the hobby over time when other stuff come up. Lol.

It'd be better if they like our hobby and support it (like mine does ). However, we can't lose sight of the "I" otherwise the relationship is not as meaningful

My wife used to hate me playing airsoft and would nag me to come home
Now she thinks the whole history thing is cool and lets me play

My wife gets concerned about the financial drain resulting from our hobby (and so many other hobbies, besides) - I think this is a common concern amongst all of us similarly-situated guys. That said, she has no serious objections to this hobby as she sees how (1) informative and educational it can be, (2) acts as a good stress reliever for me, (3) acts a good exercise, (4) and i guess she sees how it makes me happy. As of now, the most i can get her to get involved in this is to bring her and the kids to watch one of our games one day, making the event a family day for all of us. She's not really the type to enjoy stuff I do such as crawling in the mud, sleeping in the fields on a rainy night in a soggy uniform and eating food out of a can- all the while watching out for the other chaps who may shoot you with 6mm AEGs; no that's not her idea of fun, but she accepts i get a big kick out of it. She was into the garments business though, and expressed some interest at the uniforms and materials I brought home one day, so this may still open some doors for her to get into the hobby somehow.

My wifes common comments: 1. "Why are there always damb bb's all over the floor?" 2. "More paint? why do you need all that paint? you must have that color already?" 3. "Didn't you just buy a battery last week?" 4. "Mong Kok again?" 5. "Do you really need that many guns?" 6. "What did you buy on ebay this time?" 7. "Do we need to watch the History Channel again?" 8. "How much did that cost?" 9. "Did you shoot holes in my pillow again?" 10. "have fun baby, Mwa!"
Overall she's a great support and knows I love my hobbies.

kalbs... I have my own list to add...: )
1. "so...besides airsoft sites, military pages, and the like..do you ever surf as much in the girlie sites like normal guys?".... of course I do, my favorite is the babes of command and conquer pages...
2. "so... more than a sport...you say you are contributing to the preservation of history?..." always remember to attach the word "history" as a necessary prefix or indispensable adjective "historical"...
3. "so... how much is this gun gonna cost in terms of my new camera lens.." uh oh... there goes the accessory that should have gone with that gun...
4. "I am not paying the laundry woman double to wash those things..." its so degrading having to wash your own gear while just a few hours ago you just survived and shot down 3 guys in a glorious charge...
5. "...you just bought an entire battle gear and yet I don't see any new underwear in your closet? ..." ... its so hard explaining to her that we are in the business of wearing out our outfits... the more worn out.. the better...
6. "...so, where are you taking me out to dinner after your games?..." ... and it better be a good place or i'd rather face a volley of 500 fps plus than a disappointed misus : )
7. (While planning to go to a formal dinner or event) ..."what do you mean you have nothing to wear? ... and that you don't have normal shoes?... would jump boots pass as formal?
8. No!...No!!...No !!!... you are not bringing that gun into the bedroom!!!.... but It might get lonely out there?...
...so how do you solve this... hon, the guys kinda need a photographer in our special game... bring along your best friend Au, she takes nice photo's also... its time you try a diffrent subject don't you think?...
... and if everything else fails.... " I'm just into this to accompany and educate your son"... : )

Well, my wife has not seen our armory err..bedroom for more than 2 years. Only 2 things could happen: 1. WTS: All gears = Wife is home 2: WTS: All gears = Followed wife in Canada
Conclusion : Airsoft Retired Veteran. Note : Shouldn't we start organizing the Philippine Airsoft Veterans Administration Office ( PAVAO )? ;D ;D ;D
