Can you modify a liner into an M1C liner? I mean, can you install the a-yokes, etc., yourself?

Can you modify a liner into an M1C liner? I mean, can you install the a-yokes, etc., yourself? You can but it needs some hardware additions such as snaps for the chinstrap. The 1C was a modified liner. You can buy the components from the same shops. It takes some effort, no doubt about it. If you are not sure I see at the front sells repro M1C's for $125 which is a great deal www.atthefront.com/us/headgear/ushelmetparts.html

I saw a-yokes being sold at e-bay for around $18 (with shipping). You do need a special tool to install them with the rivets, right?

I assume so MV but it maybe possible to find someone locally that as that tool. What do the Jeepnee builders or other sheet metal guys use?

The guys over at Mr.Quickey can rivet that for you. But, IMHO, i wouldn't stress over the liner internals too much. It won't be seen most of the time anyway...I'd rather concentrate on modifying the steel pot (if modern). But that's just me.

Maybe not the seams but The straps are very visable on the liner and should be changed from the green nylon to the tan cotton with proper metal bits. Plus having that leather leather chin strap says WW2. I say the liner is the more important than the shell because there is little difference between post and war time shells
