M249 bullets are only 5.56 so too small, the MG34 used 8mm. I would say the 7.62 M60 bullets would be a closer match and just as easy to find

I was able to order a 60 inch plastic dummy ammo belt from a costume shop on ebay. i hope it gets here in time for the photo shoot.

Yup! But it's not historically accurate at all. They are plastic ammo rounds for "Rambo/mexican" costumes. Rounds are 2.75" long.  Good for photo-ops. Here's a pic:  Actually, if you type "bullet belt for costume" you'll get a lot of hits.

The one shown in your picture looks like for an M60. Close enough for me. You may be able to buy an MG42 link set and put those plastic bullets in it. The German links look very gothic and scary! Gotta have those!  Finished the simple upgrades today. Madbull 600mm 6.03id barrel PDI 210% spring guarder spring guide Guarder type-0 cylinder Chronos at 450-460fps with 0.2s Have yet to test it on the field.

hehe..how about the dragon set of HJ in norrei en bessin..not sure on the spelling.. thou the original picture they have the mg42.. or slung that baby on yer shoulder your tougher than john wayne.hehehe
