This copy of "Our Jungle Road To Tokyo" was given to me by a friend. It is written by Gen. Robert L. Eichelberger in collaboration with Milton Mackaye. The Viking Press, New York 1950 (it's pretty old, 62 years!), hardbound. Gen. Eichelberger was involved in several jungle campaigns in the Pacific and South East-Asia. Several chapters of the book are about the Philippines. The book has some black and white photos, and practically all are Signal Corps photos, but they are good ones. A important note on this particular book... In the pic below it can be seen handwritten; Personal Property 27 June 51 as well as a faint rubber stamp: MANUEL Q. SALIENTES LT. COL. GSC, AFP Military Attache Lt. Col. Salientes is a very well known name in Philippine Military history. A West Point graduate, he survived the Death March. I think he was a USAFFE officer. He also was the undersecretary for National Defense or Assistant Secretary for National Defense during the time of Marcos. He is deceased, and is interred at Libingan. Page 1 of the table of contents... Chapters 13 to 18 are about the Philippines. Lots of stuff also about the fighting in Buna, Hollandia, Occupation of Japan, etc...
