Here is a great excerpt about Swing music and dancing from the documentary Jazz by Ken Burns.
The beat of the music makes you want to jump in and dance.
Check out another clip from the same documentary. This time about Frankie Manning who is known as the "Ambassador of Lindy Hop".
"Lindy Hop" was later referred to as "Swing Dancing" or "Jitterbug". In the Philippines, when my parents try to dance this, it was known as "Boogie".

Nice mashup of an early footage of Balboa dancing and today's talents.
Balboa is a dance that is a branch of Swing dancing. This originated in California. When the dancefloors became packed and the music is fast, couples started dancing close.
Here is a sample of Balboa dancing.
And here is a couple from Germany (how ironic) doing a combination of Swing dancing and Balboa

Another clip for the day. One of my favorite videos to watch. I haven't met these two in person yet as they are based in Europe (either Germany or France I think). I enjoy watching them dance. I hope you enjoy this as much as I do.

The wife and I signed up to compete this year for three dance events. But our favorite dance is Collegiate Shag. Here is a clip from last year's competition:
The first couple won last year's and the previous year's competition. We will be competing against them, I'm not that level yet, but it's pretty cool to be on the same dance floor as them. My wife and I have actually taken classes with them last year. So, we'll see. Wish us luck. The competition is to take place on July 27th.

best of luck to you guys! and don't forget to have fun! Thanks very much Albert! Indeed, win or lose, we'll just go out and have fun. I hope I'll be able to post some videos. In the meantime, I have posted this clip before and I just want to share it again. Here is that same lady, now 88 years old! This clip took place just this month in Sweden where there is a big Swing dance event that occurs every year. It's just amazing what she can still do at that age!
