Hi guys!
I hope you are all excited to finally do the big reenactment on April 8.
I am putting up this thread to be the message post for reenactors taking part in the April 8 reenactment.
We have decided to increase the amount of squibbs and explosions (at great expense) to increase the impact of our performance. We are also planning to use a professional outdoor PA system so we can finally hear the voice over.
Now, we know that all of us have very little time for practice so i am asking everyone attending to PLEASE BE AT THE PARADE GROUND BY 12noon (if possible earlier) for practice and safety briefing with the jeepers, pyro guys and me. This will be the only time we will be able to run through so i respectfully ask that you all come on time. This will give us approximately 3 hours to get EVERYTHING right.
There will be a dedication ceremony at the clark cemetery that will also be on the 8th so if you like, we can all meet there.
We are awaiting a new delivery from toyman of dummy arisaka rifles. Those who can paint them, please let me know so i can distribute before the final date.
For once (and this is really weird) we seem to have a dearth of standard weapons (garands and springfields aon the allied side). I am begging those of you who have garands to please bring them. We have precious few of them so every garand will help a great deal to make this re-enactment more realistic and accurate. Those who will not be able to make it...I am also humbly begging if you can lend your garands. These will only be lent to people who are capable of caring for them...or better yet, define who gets to use them.
Please do check this thread from time to time for more up to date inteligence!
Thanks!
Albert

The script is final and has been approved. It will start with the ija banzai and march into the football field. While advancing you will be ambushed by a screening force of 26 cavalry Philippine scouts. The ija will retreat pulling back their wounded and a pall of white smoke will cover the battle field. The main body of ps will then enter with the sand bags and wire and the abucay scenario will begin. So you see dan, you get to banzai and march as well as fight and that should be as good a show Jr any, neh?

Hi Folks!
Its me again. We have now arranged for a coaster to pick up those who require transport on April 8 for the reenactment battle. Meeting place is at the trinoma public parking area at 0730 hours. We will appreciate contributions for gas as the coaster has been kindly supplied by our hosts/sponsors. We plan to begin rehearsals at around noon. Most gracious of you honorable Albert san, but it's alright as i have a ride already for myself on the 8th, but not for the Type 92. I'll be arriving in Manila on April 7 in the morning. Can i call you in the afternoon to see if the mg can fit in your vehicle? I can manage to bring it to your place. The MG is detachable from the tripod, would that help?

Here's a preliminary:
IT WAS AWESOME!
We got lucky to have two genuine Japanese guys (Mike and Big Mac) who were big on giving Japanese commands.
We had a knee mortar, operated by Dan, which used local fireworks to give a good enough mortar-like cough.
The potato-digger MG (with wooden dummy rounds) was one mean piece of kit.
There was enough time for a couple dry runs before the actual, and when it happened, the effects were nasty-cool. We had more big groundbursts and plenty of small popper squibs than the last time that it was tricky walking around the area.
The veterans loved it, their children really loved it, and the show was a success.
We closed out with Japanese Mike giving a speech in Japanese, and a full-throat" Banzai!" by the IJA team. Can't beat that!
